Pre - CanSkate

What is Pre-CanSkate?

Our Pre-CanSkate program is our learn to skate entry level program for first time skaters ages 3-4 with no skating experience. It is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. The Pre-CanSkate program runs along side our flagship CanSkate Program. For more information on the CanSkate Program click here.

When is Pre-CanSkate?

The season runs from October through to March.

Who’s it for?

First time skaters age 3-4 with no skating experience wanting to learn the FUNdamentals of skating.

Who teaches it?

National Coach Certification Program (NCCP) trained professional coaches teach all of our Pre-CanSkate and CanSkate Sessions. Our coaches are assisted by trained program assistants comprised of skaters who are volunteering their time to assist in providing a fun, safe, learn to skate program for your skater.

What will you learn?

Pre-CanSkate is where skaters will learn to fall down/get up, move forward and backward, and execute two-foot jumps through interactive games and circuits. This program introduces skills that will continue to be explored in the CanSkate program.

What can you expect?

Action, movement and fun! Lessons are given in a group format with a ratio of 1:10 (maximum). Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, upbeat music and a wide variety of activities that create a motivational environment and promote learning. Incentives are used to benchmark skaters’ progress and reward effort and participation.

What do you need to participate?

All you need are skates, a CSA-approved hockey helmet, long pants, mittens, warm sweater or jacket. Dress in layers – it will get warm!
